Autumn Picnic and Tree Top Walk!
On this crisp Autumn day, Luke and I decided to visit Salcey Forest, a tree top walk and park just 7 miles from the centre of Northampton. I've been many times, but never with Luke, and thought it might be nice to go for a stroll and get a few little picnic bits.
Autumn is my favourite time of year for walks, I love hearing the crunch of leaves underneath your feet.
To get to the tops of the trees, you have to walk for a few minutes at a slight incline. It really doesn't take long, and the incline is so slight that you barely notice you are ascending.
Once you get to the top, there is a raised platform. From here, you can see for miles out to Northampton.
Luke is really uncomfortable with heights, but because it is so secure and you don't have to look down (there's not gaps between the wood) you can forget how high up you are. I think this is lovely, and more accessible for those unable to deal with heights.
A nice walk in Autumn makes me feel so refreshed. It was quite warm today, the sun was bright and there was a gentle breeze. I absolutely love when the weather is like this.
We decided to stop and have a bite to eat, packing a few picnic bits. I love Tyrrell's veg crisps, the beetroot ones are amazing.
On another level, this lemonade is the nicest thing i've ever tasted. Fentimans Botanically Brewed Rose Lemonade comes in a beautiful glass bottle with screw lid (reusable and/or recyclable!) and tastes so refreshing. I really recommend this, a last taste of the Summer just passed.
I did my make up the same as my Autumn Essential Make-Up post, if you are interested you can find it here!
Finally we stopped by Salcey Forest Cafe, and treated ourselves to a cream tea! Gorgeous clotted cream in a fruit scone, with a delicious homemade strawberry jam that was to die for. This little cafe is really reasonable, and the staff are all really friendly and chatty.
I love Autumn days out, particularly when the crisp sun is still poking it's head through the clouds. Luke and I had a really good time, but would love to go to more places similar to this. If anyone has any ideas of places like this in the UK then I would be most grateful if you could let me know!
Thanks for reading,
Ellie xx
