A Weekend in London, and Les Miserables Review!

Myself and Luke went to London for a night featuring going to see Les Miserables! We stayed at the Russell Hotel which is located in Russell Square, literally a 5 minute walk from Euston Station and conveniently 30 seconds away from a tube station on the Piccadilly Line! This hotel cost us £169 for a double room with En-Suite on a Friday night. I felt this was really cheap, especially considering its location.

Our room was basic but with everything we needed. It was clean but could possibly do with a fresh lick of paint. The room was nice enough, but so dim! Doing my make-up was a nightmare, and as it was very dark outside due to rainy weather it didn't particularly help matters. Another minor complaint was that there was only 2 plug sockets free in the room, and they were on opposite sides of the room. It meant that if me and Luke were charging our phones, we couldn't charge camera's or Ipads etc... which was a bit annoying. Other than that we were happy in this room, and the bed was so comfortable.

In the day we went to the British Natural History Museum, which I had never actually been to before. I was eager to come here since visiting the one in New York, and it was lovely. The only little niggle I had was that the Dinosaur room was closed! The building was beautiful and that alone was lovely me.

We then went to a nearby Wagamamas for some lovely ramen, to fill our tums before the evening's' events.

My make-up for the evening was a simple red lip (Mac's Ruby Woo) with a soft smokey eye from my Stila Palette. I used Maybelline Brow Satin on my brows' and Benefit's Stay Flawless foundation which i adore! I set it all with a light dusting of Mac's prep and prime transparent face powder, and I was ready to go.

The Queen's Theatre, where Les Mis is shown is close to Leicester Square, and was a short 5 minute walk through Little China. I'd never visited this part of London particularly and really enjoyed the short walk, all you could smell was hot chinese and I loved seeing the lanterns hung between the buildings!

Finally, we got in our seats ready to enjoy Les Mis! I really recommend this show, it was the best I'd ever seen. I loved the film but feel the stage show is in another league and every second was enjoyable. In particular, Eponine played by Carrie Hope Fletcher stood out. It was only after I found out she was Tom from McFly's brother I was like OHH that's who she is! Her voice is outstanding and made me cry all the happy tears.
Phil Daniels (Quadrophenia, etc) was the master of the house, and I loved his interpretation of the character. He bought some much appreciated humour and his voice weren't bad either. Best of all was Peter Lockyer, who played Jean Valjean. His voice was spectacular and filled the whole theatre. His rendition of "Bring Him Home" is bringing me to tears while writing this, it was the most beautiful thing.

I really enjoyed my weekend in London, and hope to go back soon. I'd love to see The Book of Mormon next, or the Lion King. Have you ever seen Les Mis? or is there a show you'd like to recommend to me? I'm really open and have loved everything I've seen!

Thank you for Reading,

Ellie xx
